That is what my friend Corey said to me one day.
I hadn't seen him for a few months and I didn't really recognize him at first, he usually kinda slumped around with a nice slow easy- going smile. But this time he really bounced up to me with a huge grin and said he was on a diet. We didn't have time to chat, but he looked great and his energy was fantastic, I knew I had to visit more with him. By the way, usually no one has a great smile on their face while announcing that they are on a diet! So, about a month later I was able to catch up with him and get his story. I didn't know any of this. Apparently he had, for the last 10 years (!!!!!) been trying different diets and only sticking with them for a week or so before finally saying something like " darn, I don't really care to do this". I think he used different nomenclature though. How, I asked, did you finally do it? How did it happen? "I got tired of lying to myself" he related, "either **** or get off the pot". So, what did you do? " Nothing really" he humbly replied, " just started eating common- sensibly, smaller portions, not us much processed foods, eliminate breakfast cereals, replace with apple cider vinegar, green tea, and lemon juice". "I also started eating lots of veggies with butter, occasionally eggs and bacon for breakfast, just eating sensibly smaller portions when hungry, not on any real schedule". Oh, I should tell you that Corey habitually drank around six pops a day, first thing in morning he would start with a pop. Wow!!! He slowly eliminated these, at first just giving himself a reward pop once or twice a day and then just kicking them to the curb. He weighed 325 lbs 6 months ago. Now he is at 235 lbs and going strong! Again, I had to ask why? He said he just snapped, tired of looking and feeling that way. He said it was difficult at first. Now he says its easy peasy lemon squeesy, no problem at all and he has great energy and just on his way to life-long health and fitness. Speaking of fitness, he really doesn't do much, just some enjoyable walking approximately 3 times a week. One thing he mentioned that I really relate to and appreciate is the fact that he never did or does any calorie counting or pills or shakes or any unnatural stuff like that! Just low stress common-sense enjoyment of life. Now I'm sure Corey will continue on his journey and continue to learn as he goes, but as he also said,"If I can do it, definately anyone can!" Corey is 47 and looks 30ish, way to go Corey, keep it up! I know you will. So, let's follow Corey's example and reclaim our birthrite of awesome health. Let's live and learn how to become what we are truly capable of! cheers to you Corey, in health Rich Couchpotatoprimalfit changing the world one person at a time
